The tiger, one of the most magnificent animals in the world, it is also one of the most endangered. A cat of beauty, strength, and majesty, the tiger is master of all and subject to none -- except humans.

Tigers are among the most endangered of the cats. Fewer than 5,000 probably exist in the wild, and all are threatened by hunting and a lack of habitat. Three of the eight subspecies have disappeared over the past sixty years, and a fourth, the South China tiger, is down to twenty animals left on this planet -- few, and possibly none, survive in the wild.

Recently, the future of the Siberian tiger has brightened because of stronger anti-poaching squads, better law enforcement, and preservation of more habitats. Much of this increased effort was made possible by donations and support from individuals.
